Kenneth A. Cunefare

Kenneth’s Background

Dr. Cunefare has been involved in acoustics, noise, and vibration consulting since 1991. He has experience in: environmental noise measurement, modeling and assessment; community noise impact assessment; commercial, industrial, and residential noise control; vibration measurement, analysis and control; and forensic acoustics. Additionally, he is an expert in the qualification of hemi-anechoic and full-anechoic acoustic test chambers, as well as reverberation rooms. He has served as an expert witness in cases involving noise-related land-use suitability and noise annoyance, intellectual property matters related to acoustics, audibility concerns related to workplace accidents, and shooting ranges. He has served over 150 clients, including Louisiana-Pacific, Georgia Power, Ford Motor Company, Butzel Long, Wilmer Hale, Columbia Residential, OneStreet Residential, Thomas Concrete, and numerous others.

Dr. Cunefare received a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in acoustics from the Pennsylvania State University in 1990. He received the Acoustical Society of America’s Hunt Fellowship to perform post-doctoral research at the Technical University of Berlin, Institute of Technical Acoustics. He joined the Mechanical Engineering faculty of the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1991, where he has taught classes in acoustics, noise control, vibrations, internal combustion engines, and design. Dr. Cunefare is a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America, a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and is a member of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering, and of SAE International.

Dr. Cunefare holds four patents, with several additional patents pending.
